Rescheduled for November 12, 2021!
Pegasus Early Music and NYS Baroque were to present performances of The Panther and the Rose, medieval Italian music from the 14th century, with voices, lute, harp, vielle, bagpipes, and more, March 13-15, 2020. Unfortunately, most of these concerts had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Instead, our musicians took the time to record selections from the program. Quirky, virtuosic, and expressive, this music challenges the ears with its rhythmic complexity while it amazes the mind and soothes the soul with its melodic elegance and beauty. Our program includes motets, dances, ballatas, and madrigals by Johannes Ciconia and Matteo da Perugia, two giants of the French and Italian styles; Francesco Landini, the organist known as ‘Francesco the Blind’; and others. The musicians are Andrew Rader, countertenor; Jonas Budris, tenor; Dongmyung Ahn, vielle; Christa Patton, harp, recorders, bagpipes; Deborah Fox, lute.
