Debi Wong
Debi Wong is a Canadian-American singer, actor and stage-director recognized for her “rich-toned” voice (The Vancouver Sun) and her “unique and magical” performances (Rondo Classic). As a soloist, she performs regularly with her award-winning lute and voice duo, White Sparrow and her lute, voice and guitar trio, The Winter Of Our Discontent. Most notable appearances include: The Stockholm Early Music Festival (SE), The Copenhagen Renaissance Music Festival (DK), The BRQ Vantaa Festival (FI), Garrick’s Temple To Shakespeare (UK), the Venice Biennale (IT).
Debi is also the artistic director of the Vancouver-based company, re:Naissance Opera. In the 2017-18 season, her adaption of Handel’s Acis & Galatea was named “best operatic production of 2017” by Vancouver Classical music and her 2016 production of Shakespeare re:Imagined was hailed as “poignant and mind-blowing” by Schmopera.
Debi is a graduate of the Yale School of music (M. Mus) and she is currently a Doctor of Music candidate at the Sibelius Academy in Finland where she is studying storytelling, interdisciplinary performance and historical music.
