Baroque meets traditional! Enjoy a toe-tapping mix of fiddling from the British Isles and baroque music by Purcell, Blow, and Geminiani. Back by popular demand, the Berwick Fiddle Consort and friends.  Our program includes a variety of Irish reels and jigs, English hornpipes, a trio sonata by Geminiani based on Scottish tunes, and pieces arranged from the Rowallen and Straloch lute manuscripts. This unique blend of music from around the British Isles promises to transport you on a musical journey that transcends time and genre. You’ll discover that baroque music and traditional fiddling have much more in common than it might seem at first. A hornpipe by Henry Purcell is clearly influenced by its traditional popular form, just as fiddle variations on a theme over a bass line are similar to their baroque counterparts. Join us for this fun concert!
