Mary Riccardi

For the past 20 years, Mary Riccardi has devoted herself to the baroque violin and performance practice.  She resided in Italy and Germany for 17 years.  During that time, she played and recorded with some of Europe’s most outstanding ensembles, including La Stagione (Frankfurt), Fiori Musicali (Bremen), and Barockorchester Bremen, La Capella della Pietà de’ Turchini (Naples), Il Complesso Barocco (Venice) and Modo Antiquo (Florence), performing in many of Europe’s finest concert halls.  In North America, she has collaborated with the Boston Early Music Festival Orchestra and Chorus, and appears on their Grammy-nominated recording of Conradi’s Ariadne.  She has also played with Apollo’s Fire, Artek and The Publick Musick.

She appears on recordings for Virgin Veritas, SYMPHONIA, Amadeus and Westdeutscher Rundfunk.

Mary Riccardi grew up playing violin in Detroit, Michigan where she received her degree under the guidance of Slovak violinist Peter Michalica.  Her specialized studies brought her first to the Akademie für Alte Musik in Bremen, where Monica Huggett was her teacher, and Milan, Italy, where she studied with Enrico Gatti as a Fodella Foundation Scholarship recipient.  She is also a certified teacher of the Alexander Technique.
